The Theory Test
The theory test is a two-part test,
which needs to be passed before you can take the practical driving test. Your iDRIVE instructor will be able to help develop
your skills to enable you to pass this
The first part of the test is a computerised
multiple-choice test of 50 questions, you need to answer at
least 43 correctly to pass this part of the test. The second
part is called the hazard perception test which consists of 15
video clips, you need to identify developing hazards as they occur,
the sooner you notice the hazard the higher mark you will get.
You need to score a minimum of 44 out of 75.
You must pass both
parts of the theory test at the same time. The theory test
certificate is valid for 2 years.
You are allowed to
take driving lessons before taking the theory test; this will
help you gain valuable experience for the theory and hazard
At iDRIVE we loan you a CD-ROM
and all the necessary materials to help pass this test.
